Turn $5 into measurable impact.

Use technology, AI, content, design, research, digital tools, or organizing to measurably reduce suffering during the official seven-day challenge.

The $5 is an experiment fund. It is not a salary, wage, employment payment, or guaranteed prize.

Your mission

Use $5 in a creative, tech-enabled, non-boring way to measurably reduce suffering.

Take real action. Use a leverage layer. Deploy, test, publish, organize, research, or conduct outreach. Gather evidence, measure what happened, reflect honestly, and submit proof through the official Final Proof-of-Work Submission Form.

What counts as tech-enabled?

The project does not need to be software. The question is how tools or systems helped the $5 go further.

  • Websites, code, no-code tools, and automation
  • AI tools, digital research, and data collection
  • Content systems, social media, video, and design
  • Online organizing, outreach, and coordination
  • Existing capstone systems used for a fresh experiment

What does not qualify?

  • Simply donating the $5 or submitting an idea without execution
  • Old work with no fresh action or credible new result
  • Fabricated data, screenshots, engagement, or impact claims
  • Plagiarism, scams, exploitation, harassment, or doxxing
  • Unsafe, illegal, harmful, deceptive, or platform-breaking activity
  • Private information used without consent

Confirmed funding

Small resources, clear terms.

Up to 200 approved participants may receive a $5 experiment fund, for up to $1,000 in secured experiment funding.

The confirmed $250 Grand Prize is separate from the individual experiment funds and is awarded after eligible review.

Confirmed recognition

Eligible completers receive a certificate.

Eligible completers will receive an official DoGoodie certificate. Website-based certificate verification is planned and will be published separately; no verification system is currently live.

LinkedIn-specific badges or placards are not yet confirmed. Additional digital recognition may be introduced later.

Who can apply?

Global, 18+, and individual entries only.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. The challenge is open globally, subject to legal, payment-platform, safety, and operational feasibility.

This edition accepts individual applications only. Teams are not accepted for the first $5 Impact Hack, although team-based participation may be considered for future challenges.

Additional resources

You may use more than the official $5.

Participants may use additional personal funds, existing tools, free software, donated resources, external funding, services, materials, or platform credits, provided every additional resource is disclosed clearly in the final submission.

Projects are judged on creativity, execution, evidence, and impact—not on who spends the most. The work should still demonstrate creative leverage of the official $5 experiment fund.

Existing capstones

Can I use something I already built?

Yes—but the challenge must create a fresh experiment and a new measurable result. Using an existing tool with real participants could qualify; submitting old screenshots without a new test would not.

All deadline times use Philippine Time (PHT / Asia/Manila). Participants should rely on official DoGoodie announcements for material schedule changes.

    Official submission route

    Finished your experiment?

Completed projects and required proof must be submitted through the official Final Proof-of-Work Submission Form. Discord may be used for support, questions, and submission-related concerns.

Google sign-in may be required for file uploads or response management.

    Final Submissions Open August 1

    Scoring

    Seven categories. Five points each.

The 35-point rubric supports consistent evaluation. Popularity, reactions, Discord activity, or social-media reach alone do not determine the winner.

    1. Tech-Enabled Execution
    2. Creativity and Novelty
    3. Measurable Reduction in Suffering or Impact
    4. Organizing and Influence Capacity
    5. Execution Quality
    6. Evidence and Documentation
    7. Reflection, Learning, and Future Potential

    31–35 Exceptional finalist

26–30 Strong submission / possible Core Builder candidate

    20–25 Completed and developing

Below 20 Not yet ready for higher-level recognition

    Final selection

The rubric supports consistent evaluation. Skyler Hoffman makes the final winner selection based on the recorded scores, submitted evidence, safety compliance, and alignment with the spirit of DoGoodie.

    Tie-breaking

If finalists receive the same total score, ties are resolved in this order: Impact score, Evidence score, Execution score, then Skyler Hoffman’s documented decision if a tie remains.

    Disqualification

Projects may be disqualified for fake proof, fabricated data, plagiarism, scams, unsafe or illegal conduct, harassment, doxxing, exploitation, privacy or consent violations, misuse or non-disclosure of funds and resources, old work with no fresh execution, misleading claims, platform-rule violations, or harmful conduct.

    Public sharing and consent

Private participant data is not automatically public. DoGoodie may request limited permission to display an approved project, but public showcase permission is not an ownership transfer. Builders can use a public alias and request redaction, correction, or reasonable removal.

    Postponement, modification, or cancellation

If the challenge is postponed, modified, or cancelled, official updates will be posted through the DoGoodie Discord server and Facebook page. Participants should rely on official DoGoodie announcements for schedule changes; email notification is not guaranteed.
